The quote that inspired this work was, ‘practice is about having a meaningful life, everything we do is practice’ -&nbsp;Catherine Deveny I started by meditating on quotes that had profound impact on how I view the world. I would then sit a 5 minute silent meditation to achieve a state of ‘no-mind’ before I commenced explorative mark making. This ensured the work would hold what I was contemplating at the time - at the moment of creation. Being interested in the wisdom that comes from the curiosity of a child, I made my work purely out of sensational feeling - foot painting to a song, etching onto clay, drawing with my eyes closed. These processes allowed for my work to be ephemeral and directed by intuition. His infamous anonymity was something I really respect and admire and I wanted to push the idea of no-brand as brand through the use of nostalgic imagery. An attempt to reignite the initial essense of this fashion house and it’s vitality that I hope to never be lost. The simple four stitch tag was the fashion house’s original mark. The designers wanted to make it rain with an indoor water rigging system. However cost made this idea unattainable, so I had to sought other ways of capturing a similar feeling and creating similar magic. museum’s branding history and stumbled upon a double MM as one of the museum’s past identiies.&nbsp; I was caught by the simplicity of this idea and appreciated the way in which the letters became pictorial - ideal for a logo. After experimentation by hand on grid paper, I decided to play with Wim Crouwel’s ‘M’ from vormgevers as I really liked the fluidity of it. This also seemed appropriate considering Crouwel’s past collaboration with Moderna Museet in 2012 via his typeface Gridnik. To compact the logo I played with two stacked ‘M’s instead of having them side by side. I originally trialed the stacked ‘M’s as block letters filled in, but decided to focus on the linework exclusively as it looked less comical and more interesting to me. I continued to utilise the logo as a pictorial element and played with ways it could create more artistic formations. With this exploration I developed a monogram for the brochure cover and various formations for posters and ephemera.
