Margiela rebrand
2020
I wanted to pay tribute to the early days of underground Margiela: party-like shows at a playground with invites on CDs.
His infamous anonymity was something I really respect and admire and I wanted to push the idea of no-brand as brand through the use of nostalgic imagery. An attempt to reignite the initial essense of this fashion house and it’s vitality that I hope to never be lost.
The simple four stitch tag was the fashion house’s original mark. The red stitching is an ode to the tabi boots that were once dipped in red paint at the start of a show - enabling a white runway to be painted in action.
